INTREPID SPIRITS TO HOST 24-HOUR LIVE GLOBAL COCKTAIL EVENT
‘As the Sun Goes Down’ celebrates bartenders from 24 cities around the world over 24 hours of drinks
DUBLIN, IRELAND (June 15, 2020) — On Sunday, June 21, 2020, Intrepid Spirits, will host a global live cocktail event, bringing together bartenders from around the world for a virtual happy hour on the longest day of the year.
‘As the Sun Goes Down’ celebrates spirits tastemakers and bartending skill across different cultures and time zones, coming together as a global community. On the hour, every hour, Intrepid will be hosting sessions led by industry leaders – 24 drinks, across 24 cities, in 24 hours. People are invited to join in with whatever is in their drinks cabinet and raise a toast with some of the most innovative mixologists in the world.
The Intrepid team will be hosting the celebration from Dublin via Instagram Live, looping in a new guest from a new city every hour. Starting at 7am (GMT +1), kicking off the live stream will be Ed Loveday from Sydney, mixing a cocktail with the newest spirit in the Intrepid portfolio, Regal Rogue Vermouth. For the next 24 hours, the event will move as the sun goes down across the globe to major cities including Tokyo, Shanghai, Milan, Lisbon, Copenhagen, London, Cape Town, La Paz, New York, San Francisco and Honolulu.
A mixologist from each city will join the live feed to prepare a craft cocktail of choice using one of Intrepid’s award-winning brands: Egan’s Irish Whiskey, Mad March Hare Irish Poitin, Cocalero or Regal Rogue; or one of their partner brands: Michter’s Whiskey, Pusser’s Rum, Merlet Cognac, Los Javis Mezcal and Kyrö Gin. Each will offer a toast to honor someone or something meaningful in their life.
Notable industry professionals include Jillian Vose from The Dead Rabbit in New York, named the World’s Best Bar and owned by Belfast natives Jack McGarry and Sean Muldoon. Raf Agapito, the founder of Fuba Cachaça and former bar manager in No Name Bar in Dublin will be joining from Lisbon. Joan Carbo, who honed his craft in the world famous ‘El Cellar de Can Roca’ in Girona and is now Cocalero Master Distiller, is joining from La Paz. Dublin is represented by Dave Mulligan of Bar 1661, voted Ireland’s best cocktail bar 2019, mixing with Mad March Hare Poitín and Regal Rogue.
Viewers can recreate the cocktails from the comfort of their own home while interacting with industry professionals and cocktail enthusiasts across the globe.
