Walsh Whiskey, has released a new, limited edition, super-premium expression exclusively for The Irish Whiskey Collection at The Loop, operated by Aer Rianta International (ARI). The Irishman Single Malt Marsala Cask Finish is the company’s first global exclusive in conjunction with ARI and is available at The Loop in Dublin & Cork international airports in Ireland.

The non-chill filtered, Single Malt, distilled to 46% ABV, is finished for 15 months in marsala hogshead casks from Sicily. Each cask was hand-selected by Walsh Whiskey Founder, Bernard Walsh, especially for The Irish Whiskey Collection release. The influence of the sweet marsala-enriched staves on The Irishman’s award-winning, triple-distilled Single Malt whiskey is sumptuous.

As a creator and curator of whiskeys, Bernard Walsh’s international research into new cask finishes for his portfolio of whiskeys has seen him visit Italy, Spain, France, St. Lucia, China and of course  Kentucky, USA.  Commenting on the successful outcome of the project, Bernard Walsh said: “I love sweet tasting wines, so I love working with marsala. I am delighted that this 15-month finish has resulted in a beautifully balanced whiskey which is exclusive to our important partners – ARI Travel Retail. The Irish Whiskey Collection is playing a central role in the international resurgence of Irish whiskey.”

Tracey Jordan, Liquor Buyer at The Loop (ARI) said, “This exciting collaboration with Walsh Whiskey is the latest addition to our unrivalled range of whiskeys. We are delighted to welcome yet another world exclusive to The Irish Whiskey Collection in The Loop, at Dublin and Cork Airports. Undoubtedly, this will be a unique collection addition for any whiskey connoisseur.”

Tasting Notes:

ü  On the Nose: A sophisticated complexity of earthy notes with honey and floral aromas.

ü  The Palate: Notes of candied dried red berries with a rich toasted malt cereal mouth feel.

ü  And Finally the Finish: Never relenting, toasted honeyed malt giving way to fragrant floral notes… warmed, no doubt, by the Sicilian Summer Sun.
